     It is a resort, healing and tourist centre with national and international importance. This is the modern characteristic of Sandanski. The town is over 3200 years old. It has a rich archaeological heritage. The unique early Christian architecture turns Sandanski into incredible centre of European cultural tourism. The town of Sandanski is one of the most beautiful towns of Bulgaria. It is located in the south – west of Bulgaria at the foothill of Pirin mountains covered with forests, at the two banks of the Sandanska Bistritsa River flowing down from the mountain. Sandanski has a unique climate.
   Local air refreshes and heals! Here is the place where asthmatic attacks stop. Local mineral water is clear, transparent, with pleasant taste; it is used for treatment of gastrointestinal and kidneys disorders. Sandanski is also known for winemaking. Nearby the town there is a winery, where they put into bottles some of the best Bulgarian wines. Due to its healing climate, rich history, and beautiful nature Sandanski attracts tourists from all over the world. High School Yane Sandanski is the oldest High School in the town. After 76 years of existence it still has good image and it is famous and open for new ideas in education which respond to the challenges of the modern life.
